Recalls how the "North Derbyshire Reds"
were formed
The idea for forming the Chesterfield Branch of Liverpool FC supporters came as a result of a chance meeting between three guys, Neil Kniveton, Brian Lunn and Dave Torrington. This meeting took place in 1996 on a coach returning to Clay Cross from a tour of Anfield. Three strangers, who all shared a passion for Liverpool, and had a vision to create an opportunity for Liverpool fans of all ages, to support the best football club in the world

The following week a meeting was held at the Gate Inn ,North Wingfield and some thirty plus local Liverpool fans attended. Two things came from this meeting, the formation of the first committee and an impromptu "whip round" to pay for a promotional advert in the Chesterfield Advertiser. Several weeks later " The North Derbyshire Reds" were born.

Fourteen years on the branch has evolved into a small business, which last year saw the Branch increase it's membership base to just short of 280, proud to maintain its family image, travelling all over Britain and Europe, supporting the mighty Liverpool. Committee members past and present must be thanked for their contributions as must each and every Chesterfield Branch Member.

We meet on the first Monday of every month (excluding Bank Holidays) at the Hardwick Suite at Grassmoor Golf Centre, Grassmoor, K.O. at 7-30pm. Members come along to the meetings to chat, put their names down for games, as we allocate tickets on a first come, first served basis. There is also quiz/bingo and an open the box raffle with cash prizes.

Anyone wishing to join our friendly branch can do so, by clicking on the Membership Application Form link on the Main Menu, and print off the Application form (by clicking on printer icon in the top right of the screen) and post completed form and monies\documents required, to our Branch Secretary (address on bottom of form).The next Branch Meeting is scheduled for Monday 6th September 2010 at 7.30 p.m.
